What to expect

Day 1 - 2Nairobi

Day 1
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our team outside the arrivals hall. Transfer to your boutique hotel in the leafy suburbs of Karen-Langata
Check-in and relax.

Accommodation on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we explore this vibrant city with its many interesting sites. We will start with the AFEW Giraffe Centre dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Rothschild Giraffes, followed by the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, one of the finest Elephant orphanages in Africa and then the Women’s cooperative of Kazuri Beads. Lunch will be at a Garden Café, followed by a visit of the spectacular Kitengela Hot Glass and finally walk through one of our open-air craft markets.
Return to the hotel at leisure.

Overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 3Nairobi via Limuru- Mt Kenya National Park | Approx 3hrs

08h30: Breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to Limuru area and tour the Kiambethu Tea Farm, one of the first plantations in the country and still run by the founding family. Enjoy the tour and the organic produce lunch before we drive on to the foothills of Mt Kenya,
Arrive at the Serena Mountain Lodge overlooking a salt-lick water hole.
Check-in and rest of the evening spent viewing the game as it trails in and out quenching thirst.

Day 4 - 5Aberdares – Great Rift Valley (Njoro)

Day 4
07h30: Breakfast and drive via Nyahururu where we shall make a scenic stop at the Thomson Falls. Later proceed to Njoro in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive and check in for lunch. Afternoon at leisure with a host of optional activities available.

Day 5
On the Farm:
Walk on the Farm: visit the racehorses, the dairy herd, calves, chickens. Fantastic birding, colobus monkeys in the forests, and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of a duiker, a mongoose or a serval.

Visit the Kenana Knitters – a women’s co-operative producing knitted items.

External
4-5 hours Game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.
OR
Boat ride on Lake Naivasha and walking safari at Crescent Island Sanctuary, our own “Garden of Eden” (no predators)
Breakfast served in your cottage, lunch and dinners are hosted by the owners in the main farmhouse.

Day 6-7Great Rift Valley - Masai Mara | Approx 6hrs drive

07h00: Breakfast and check out. Drive via Narok to the Maasai Mara National Reserve
Check-in and lunch at the camp/Lodge.
Afternoon game drive in the reserve till sundown.
The following day:
NB: if it is a Wednesday, you will be able to participate in the Market day at Talek.
People come from far and wide to buy and sell their products and livestock. Enhance your safari experience with a Market visit when it coincides with your trip. Talek Market days are full of life with Maasai women dressed in their very best; red and blue dresses paired up with pretty jewelry around the forehead, neck, arms, and ankles trying to sell their goods to willing customers.
We shall start with an early morning game drive followed by breakfast. In the morning we can visit some social project in the area like the Solar Mamas, a traditional Maasai village (Manyatta) and then continue with our game drive for the rest of the day. Packed lunches will be provided which you shall enjoy in an Out of Africa style environment. Return to camp/Lodge by sundown.
Dinner and then enjoy a campfire nightcap as you recount your experiences.

Day 8Masai Mara via Nairobi- Lamu

07h30: Breakfast and check out. Depart from Masai Mara back to Nairobi, Kenya’s wonderful capital city. Arrive at the Wilson airport and enjoy lunch at the Java House Aerodrome before your board your scheduled flight to Lamu.

On arrival, speed boat transfer to Shela Village. Check –in and overnight stay
Stay on bed & breakfast basis with meals direct.

Day 9-12Lamu Archipelago

Day 9
We shall start our day with a Sunrise Yoga session. We can do it at the beach or the beautiful Wellness Centre lead by a professional Yoga instructor.
Enjoy a hearty Swahili breakfast afterward and then we will set out to explore the history and culture of Lamu including the Lamu Fort, Swahili Museum, the Donkey Sanctuary and get a feel of the local henna application!
Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beach.

Day 10
Welcome another day in Africa with your Surya Namaskar!
Today we invite you to a day at sea aboard a typical dhow. Cruise the channel, enjoy a local lunch on board and then sail back to Shela by 3 pm. Wind down the day with a spectacular sunset.
Return to the hotel.
17h30 to 18h30: enjoy sunset dhow cruising

Day 11
Your sunrise Yoga Session awaits
This day trip begins by heading to Manda Toto reef by motor boat for some snorkeling to see puffers, clown fish, the remaining coral and if we are lucky a turtle. Later we move on to the beach for a barbeque lunch. In the afternoon the trip heads to Gordon Reef for some more snorkeling. Most Captains prefer Manda toto because the reef is within the Manda – Pate channel which makes the sea calm with just small waves. Snorkel on the coral reefs off Manda Toto island and discover an astounding array of exotic marine wildlife.
Return to the hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 12
Your sunrise Yoga Session awaits.
After breakfast, morning at leisure and check out.
Transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Arrive and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound flight
