Home » Uganda » Murchison Falls National Park

At 3,840 sq km, this is the largest park in Uganda. The magical vista is made up of rolling grasslands and savanna decreasing in height from Robongo Hills in the east to the western Rift wall and Lake Albert. The park is dissected by the Nile into East and West. The magical sight is the forced river through the rock cleft – some 7 meters wide into a spectacular 43 meters drop ta the Murchison Falls.

In the park you can see elephants, buffaloes, Unganda Kobs, chimpanzees, lion, leopards, crocodiles, hippos and giraffes. There are over 350 different species of birds including the shoebill stork, goliath heron, open-bill stork, saddle-bill stork, the majestic fish eagle, tawny eagle, lappet-faced vulture, skimmer, kingfisher, buzzards and harrier.

While here don’t miss the opportunity to take the12 km boat tour from Paraa for chance to view game watering along the Nile. For fishing enthusiast, the area is well known for anglers and record fish taken on a rod and line from a boat weighed 102 kilograms.
